Senior School Music

Music at ºÃÀ³ÎÛÊÓƵ is vibrant and inclusive.

In the Senior School, as it is across the whole school, our pupils are taught by a team of specialist music teachers who enable young musicians to find their own musical voice through an imaginative and stimulating curriculum (GCSE, IB Diploma and A Level courses), in individual music lessons and by offering a host of extra-curricular musical opportunities. We aim to provide something for everyone and all types of musical endeavour are encouraged.

Choirs, Orchestras and Bands

There are opportunities to perform in all styles and at all levels: Choral and Orchestral Concerts, Open Mic nights, Jazz and Rock Gigs, Lunchtime Concerts and Evening Recitals all feature regularly as well as a large number of sung Chapel services in school. Every pupil competes with their house in the annual House Song Competition in October, and there is another House Music Competitions mid-year that offers opportunities for Instrumental and Vocal Soloists as well as and House Ensembles.

Our performances are uploaded onto the School's .

Our musicians tour regularly, most recently to Salzburg, Austria and perform in local and national venues such as Great Witley Church, the Royal Albert Hall, the National Concert Band Festival, Upton Jazz Festival and many more. A Musical is staged every two years. Most recent productions have included Grease, Guys and Dolls and West Side Story.

We are proud of our partnerships: we run an Orchestra activity for ºÃÀ³ÎÛÊÓƵMiddle Schools (children in Years 5-8), and have an excellent rapport with professional organisations such as:

• English Symphony Orchestra
• Birmingham Symphonic Winds
• ºÃÀ³ÎÛÊÓƵInternational Musicians’ Competition (and Young Musicians’ Platform)
• National Children’s Choir of Great Britain
• Stagecoach
• TTW (The Theatre Workshop)
• All and Sundry Productions
• ºÃÀ³ÎÛÊÓƵConcerts

We have the Scholarship Pathway Programme, which our musicians can follow from 11+. We offer Scholarship Pathway places to those who are likely to become leading contributors to ºÃÀ³ÎÛÊÓƵmusic. Singers, organists and instrumentalists may apply. Please click here for details. We also have a Music Leaders’ Programme whereby more experienced pupil musicians assist in the running of various music groups and activities, inspiring the younger players. Many of our musicians reach very high levels of musical performance whilst at school, and several have gone on to read Music at, or gained Music, Choral or Organ Scholarships at Conservatoires and Universities across the world. Many have since become professional performers.
